Casting Metals

We offer three low melt, whitemetal alloys, as detailed below.
Pewter - A lead free alloy conforming to BS5140, with a Tin content of 91%, the other ingredients being Copper and Antimony. Pewter has a distinctinve while colour, is tough and malleable. It is ideal for products requiring fine detail and a polished surface. However it is not suitable for producing sharp edges as in filigree decoration.
Melting Temperature around 295-315°C.

K A Alloy (contains Lead) - This is an alloy of Tin (55%) Antimony and Lead. It is free flowing and suitable for complex and delicate castings such as filigree work. Due to the high tin content, castings have a bright appearance.
Melting Point around 250-315°C.

All Round Alloy - This alloy contains 31% Tin and is a good 'all rounder'. The castings are malleable and good results are easily achieved when casting figures and jewellery. Ideally suited to beginners.

Bench-top Metal Melters - These metal melters are suitable for melting tin, pewter, lead, zinc and solder. Temperatures are fully adjustable with an electric controller and versions that will reach 400°C and 600°C are available. The melting pots are cast iron with an aluminium case and mild steel base plate.
