Lay-up Resin AP101PA - The lay-up resin provides the matrix to encapsulate and protect the glass fibre reinforcement. The pre-accelerated resin is first activated by adding 2% by weight of catalyst to the resin. The resin is then painted on the back surface of the partially cured gelcoat and the glass chopped strand mat reinforcement laid into the resin film. Further resin is stippled into the matt to give a resin to glass ratio of 2.5:1 by weight. The laminate is then consolidated using a roller to remove trapped air.

Lay-Up Resin AP101PA
Gelcoat GC150PA - The gelcoat provides a resin rich area on the surface of a GRP laminate, its function being to protect the glass fibre reinforcement and to provide an aesthetic appearance to the visible face of the laminate.
Apply the gelcoat to the prepared surface of the mould by brush to a thickness of 0.38mm (15thou) and a rate of 350g/m2.

Gelcoat GC150PA
Colour Paste - For pigmenting the gelcoat (add at 6-10%) and the lay-up resin (add at 2%). N.B. Adding excessive amounts of colour paste will inhibit the cure of the resin.
Opaque colours: Black, White, Brown, Ivory, Grey, Light, Admiralty Grey, Dark Blue, Mid Blue, Turquoise Blue, Zircon Blue, Light Green, Mid Green, British Racing Green, Pirate Red, Post Office Red, Golden Yellow, Jasmine, Tangerine or Purple.

Catalyst Dispenser - Use for the safe, accurate dispensing of catalyst. 500ml dispenser with a 15ml spout graduated in 0.5ml increments. Squeeze the bottle to dispense, check amount and pour. We also offer a larger one litre dispenser with a 75ml spout. For small amounts use a 10ml polypropylene measuring cylinder graduated in 0.2ml increments, syringes or pipettes.

Reinforcements

Chopped Strand Mat - The most common form of reinforcement. Consists of chopped glass strands, usually 50mm in length, bound together with binder, which holds the fibres together in a random manner. The mat comes in different thicknesses expressed as weights per square metre. Prices quoted per kilo in boxes and per linear metre (91cm wide) for less than a box.

Chopped Strand Mat
Woven Rovings - Consists of glass rovings woven into a fabric, which can be draped with a weight of 280g/m2.Use in conjunction with CSM or alone to produce laminates of high strength and modulus.

Woven Rovings
Surface Tissue (90cm wide) - The finest glassfibre for providing a resin rich, smooth surface to the chopped strand mat laminate. We recommend that it is used behind the gelcoat to provide extra reinforcement and prevent print-through.
Use 'fluffy' side down to prevent tool pick-up.
